  1. Pah! Good game Sarries and deserved win. I really thought the way ROG started we were going to see a siren song performace reminiscent of the King Ronan of old, but it all went a bit pear-shaped at times. Still, not a terrible performance from Munster, though at times we were negligently lax around the breakdown. If we met the Clermont of yesterday we would have been annihilated by their ferocious counter-rucking.

    Quite agree. A couple of teams like the Western Farce and the Lions would lift the level markedly.

  3. @ dermott

    Well, the lions will be looking for a new home, having been kicked out of super rugby for next year.

    Can’t believe I’ve given MOTM to Stevens.
    The universe is all fucked.

  6. dermott says:

    Today’s match was played in a parallel universe.

    I wonder if my posts will have a French accent when I post from Paris.

    The fact that Sale lost so badly is because they have to compete in the Aviva to avoid relegation or qualify (so do Toulon, but let’s ignore that for the moment). And the fact that all but one group is topped by a French or English club at the moment despite being disadvantaged–this is somewhat inconsistent with the broader argument but demonstrates the natural superiority of the Top 14 and Premiership–shows why they deserve extra spots .

    How’s that?

  9. Kocktopuss says:

    @FD

    Spot on. Lacks the one-eyedness that comes naturally but no-one would want to channel Baldy too strongly lest he sense you and possess you.

    I’m going to put up a new blog shortly.
    Given today’s events, it’s somewhat appropriate.

  11. avsfan says:

    It looks like Cipper’s decision to bail early from his Rebels contract to impress the new England management is coming along nicely.

    @Sag

    Is it your ode to Matt Stevens you said you were working on?

  13. Fergus says:

    Meadesian, I was having a bit of an oul troll, avsfan bemoaned the lack thereof and I get such entertainment form you bunch (have for a few years) that I felt a desultory bit of opinionated nonsense was the least I could provide, I’ll try harder in future…..

    Poor Munster though, just can’t seem to do the old hold on and grind them down trick they used to be so good at, I was sure ROG’s penalty just after half-time was going to be the decisive one…dammit…qualification is looking unlikely…

  14. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE.

    Fucking knew it.

    Been busy as hell these last few weeks. Posted in response to Daffodane once on the Graun, saw how deserted it was, and luckily stumbled across a signpost left by Sag (I think).

    Anyway, congrats to the Borg. Despite the defeat, I thoroughly enjoyed that match. Like in Limerick, it could have gone either way. Surprised at ROG missing the kick, but it’s the best game I’ve seen him play this year. Unlucky yellow for Fraser, but Farrell lucky not to have got one (and the penalty reversed). A big shout out for referee Garces who I thought had a great game. With Racing Metro thereabouts too, this group is bubbling up nicely. I can see us grab a QF place thru a runners up spot (hopefully), but Sarries haven’t won the group yet.

    On Chess: Very impressive stuff Paddy. Loved the game as a kid. Played for my school. Nothing special though, won a few, lost a few, drew one. Haven’t played for years.
